1. Social distancing- Practicing social distancing measures is rule #1. Nothing will put a crimp in our plans faster (or longer) than an outbreak of CV19 in your household or in our child care. So I ask to please continue to social distance and make the best choices for your family.

2. Pick Up & Drop Off. Parents can enter the facility for drop off and pick up but should remain in the entry way if possible. As has always been our practice, children will wash their hands upon entering care or immediately following drop off. Adults should use the hand sanitizer available in the entry.

3. Can you say “no” to all 3?

* Has your children or anyone in your household been exposed to a person with a positive or presumptive case of CV19 in the past 14 days?
* Is your child or anyone in your household had an unusual/ill cough, shortness of breath or fever? (100.4 or over is exclusion.)
* Does your child have symptoms of the common cold, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, sore throat or rash?

Children who become ill during the day (can no longer say “no” to all 3) are isolated and sent home as soon as possible. If the provider becomes ill during the day, parents will be notified and the children will need to be picked up in a timely manner. Please make sure that your contact information is up to date on your child’s registration forms.

4. Family Engagement/ Childcare Tours. Any new families looking at future enrollment will be asked to wear PPE while in the childcare home unless fully vaccinated. Cleaning procedures will take place immediately following any family childcare tour to eliminate any new germs that may have been left in the home.

5.  We will continue to be one stable group of 6 but be prepared that if our area returns to baseline, we may have to go back to only accepting children whose parents are essential workers. If one parent is able to be home under baseline conditions, we may ask that the children stay home as well. As much notice will be given if this situation was to happen again.

6. PPE for Adults & Kids – PPEs!  Since all the children in care are under kindergarten age, they are not required to wear a face mask during daycare hours, unless the family chooses for them to do so. Parents are also left to their discretion on wearing a face mask in our childcare home. We do ask that if a parent or any adult picking up the child is experiencing cold symptoms, that they wear a mask during drop off and pick up, or find another trusted adult to pick up.

If you prefer to have your child wear a face mask while in care;

Children cannot be disciplined for the inability to wear a PPE or face shield and cannot be forced to do so.  We will do our very best to keep everyone safe. There are limited reasons why children might not be able to wear a PPE for health conditions, disability, they are not successful, sleeping or eating and/or unable to do it independently.
If you chose to have your child wear a face mask, please ensure that your child has their equipment at the start of each day and at least one backup as well. Adults are expected to provide the PPE for their own child/children. Children under 5 should not have PPEs/shields (ages 2 to 5 may wear them but we are not practicing that here and children under age 2 are not allowed by regulations). Wash/sanitize daily or provide 2 NEW disposables each day. Soiled face coverings will be put into personal bags as needed before the end of the day. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PROVIDED ENOUGH PPE for your child/children.

* ELD requires as part of ECC that we space sleep spaces out at least 36 inches (3 feet). Since we were already doing this, nothing changes regarding sleeping spaces.

7. Cleaning & Building Maintenance – This is the 1st line of defense against CV19. Our diligence keeps us all safer and healthier. Please ensure on-time pick up (and drop offs) to assist us in keeping our cleaning and sanitizing schedule on track, as delayed or late pickups push cleaning and sanitizing into our family time. Cleaning will continue throughout the day as toys get used as well as deeper cleaning during rest time and after care has ended for the day. Shared materials (it can and does happen throughout the day and is basically unavoidable) will be limited and cleaned/sanitized in between uses. Children and provider wash their hands constantly throughout the day (20 seconds at a time – encourage our handwashing song at home too please). Children and adults in the program do NOT use hand sanitizer. We wash. All the time. Constantly. It is never-ending 😊.

8. Keep your kids home and away from others as much as possible. Any child or provider must by regulations be suspended from care for 14 days if exposed to a positive or presumptive case of CV19 (unless and until a negative test or with doctor’s written clearance). If a child becomes ill, they must be out of care for 10 days after onset of symptoms and 24 hours after both fever and cough have been fully gone, without the use of fever reducing medication. If your child has cold symptoms (sneezing, runny nose, congestion, cough), we ask that they stay home until the symptoms have mostly subsided and/ or there is no cough for 24 hours. I monitor meal times closely to prevent sharing and/or touching. The provider dishes up the meals in the kitchen, serving individual plates to children. Children also have their own individual cups that they drink out of during the day.

9. If someone connected to our program has a confirmed case of CV19, we have to notify public health authority, Office of Child Care and DHS/DPU.  We also have to notify each parent (maintaining confidentiality regulations as also required) then we all get to quarantine for 14 days after the date of our exposure to that person. (Again, keep your kids home and do not increase the risk they will come into contact with someone with CV19.) We will coordinate our response with the local public health authority. Please follow number 3 above and stay home if you suspect a “yes” answer. While I can’t (by law) discriminate against you because of your job or higher risk for CV-19 contact, we all will have to quarantine if it comes into our program. Communicating in any situation related to your CV-19 exposure or possible presumptive case is CRITICAL for us all.

In the event of a COVID-19 quarantine, parents are still required to pay their normal tuition to hold their child’s spot. If we return to baseline and have to temporarily suspend care for certain children, 2 weeks pay will be required to hold the spot until care can resume as normal.
